Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Training & Consultation Specialist for the Behavioral Research and Training Institute-Center for Continuing Education at University Behavioral Healthcare.
Under direction of the Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of live and web based training programs. Oversees project activities and provides advanced level consultation, technical assistance and training services consistent with identified department goals and objectives.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Participates in continuing education needs assessment.
- Provides continuing education curriculum development, coordination, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Develops multimedia courses including web-based programs.
- Provides consultation and technical assistance.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adheres to contract and fiscal requirements.
- Participates in the development of continuing education marketing materials.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Education, Mental Health, Social Sciences or related discipline with appropriate experience that includes some training, consultation, and/or program development/evaluation activities; minimum of two (2) years of experience in working in a behavioral health care setting or a Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of related experience in a behavioral health care setting.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: Commute to training sites throughout the state. Frequent, prolonged sitting. Frequent, prolonged standing, frequent walking, bending and lifting up to 25 pounds in order to move training equipment, transport training literature, and set up training rooms. Required to transport objects that can be wheeled up to 50 pounds. Extensive reading required. Extensive computer work required. Speaking/lecturing for prolonged periods.
- Work Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions in a clean, well-lighted, quiet to moderately loud setting. Work environments may vary as dictated by site/location or training programs.
