Our Chalk River location is looking for a Tritium Facility Technologist to join our Licensed Nuclear Facilities Branch! Can you see yourself conducting operational work in our Tritium Facility, training to be a qualified member for tritium handling operations in our Class I Licensed Nuclear Facilities as well as delivering commitments to both Commercial and Federal Projects?   • Carrying out all responsibilities safely and accurately by strictly following protocols and procedures.
  • Initial responsibility – on-the-job training under the supervision of a senior/experienced staff member.
  • Completing formal training to become fully qualified for licensed facility (Tritium Facility) operation.
  • Completing daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly activities related to routine laboratory operations such as equipment calibration, housekeeping, and waste disposal coordination.
  • Performing maintenance work as required – may involve working with fresh air respirators.
  • Setting up production facilities for commercial projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have graduated from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a chemical technology, chemistry, physics or engineering program OR
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and has typically more than 3 years pertinent experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
  • Experience
  • Experience in chemical laboratory practices and safety procedures.
  • Some chemical engineering laboratory operational experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Basic computer skills with word processing and spreadsheet knowledge.
  • Knowledgeable of quality assurance requirements in lab activities.
  • Working knowledge of chemical analysis techniques and equipment.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret with 5 year SASC requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
