The appointee will undertake supervised elective commitments including a weekly session in a new hybrid theatre, which entered service in September 2024, with surgeon-led endovascular aneurysm repair and hybrid peripheral arterial cases. Separate open surgery is also available with open aortic aneurysm repair, carotid surgery and fistulae formation. Day case surgery includes varicose vein surgery, endovenous surgery and fistulae surgery.PLEASE NOTE THIS ADVERT MAY CLOSE EARLY IF WE HAVE SUFFICIENT APPLICATIONSMain duties of the jobOther duties shared between all middle grades include a daily ward round for vascular inpatients, attendance at elective clinics, a Vascular Hot Clinic and the option to attend angioplasties. Evening and night cover is provided by the General Surgery Registrar from 6pm to 8am. Prospective cover for colleagues is expected.   • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Successful completion of MRCS or equivalent at time of application
  • Eligible for full or limited registration with the GMC at time of appointment
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
  • At least 24 months’ experience (at SHO level) in surgery (not including Foundation modules) by August 2017

Desirable

  • Evidence of relevant academic & research achievements
  • Evidence of active participation in audit
  • Evidence of participation in risk management and/or clinical/laboratory research
  • Experience in Vascular Surgery
