Job Description:College/School/Department: College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, School of Literatures, Languages & Cultures, Asian Studies.Contract: Open Ended (permanent), Part-Time (21 Hours per Week) Over 10 Months (Annualised Equivalent of 0.5 FTE).Salary: Grade UE06 £32,982-£38,205 Pro Rata Per Annum.Number of Posts: 1If you already hold a contract of employment with the University of Edinburgh, you should apply for this role via the internal applications portal .We are looking for a Tutor in Chinese to join the Department of Asian Studies in the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures. The successful candidate will teach within the framework of the School’s courses in undergraduate and postgraduate Chinese.This position is a part-time (21 hours per week), open-ended post available from November 2024. For the months of July and August, working hours will be zero. Annual leave will normally be taken during the months you are scheduled to work. - A first / undergraduate degree (at least 2:1 or equivalent) and evidence of fluent or near fluent proficiency in Chinese and fluency in English.
- Ability in assessing student work, including translations and Chinese language coursework; as well as group or team work.
- A demonstrable capacity to create teaching material which caters to a range of different Chinese language learners.
- Proven record of ability to manage time and to work to strict deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.
