Position Summary:
 
The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI’s brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers—striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. Accounting and Fiscal Services at UC Irvine is comprised of several units that support critical campus business operations: General Accounting, Contracts & Grants Accounting, Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll & Accounting Systems, Financial Services, Financial Management Support & Reporting, Procurement, and Internal Controls. Working closely with campus financial management, the UCI Controller’s Office is a trusted strategic partner divided into three core teams: Accounting & Fiscal Services, Procurement Services, and Financial Services. The Accounting & Fiscal Services team ensures the integrity of UCI’s financial reporting, enables effective and efficient campus financial processes and controls, manages contracts and grants funding at the post-award stage, and champions compliance with policies, laws, and regulations. The Procurement Services team leads through best practices in the acquisition of quality goods and services by implementing processes and procedures that deliver high quality expertise, significant value, and excellent customer service. Finally, the Financial Services team provides support and resources to campus in the areas of billing, collections, payments, disbursements, loan administration, and student tax information. In all these areas, the Controller’s Office is always dedicated to providing effective and efficient customer service in support of UCI’s mission and goals.

 

Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Standardizes business processes and transactional analysis to support and trouble shoot the University’s HR, benefits, and payroll system, UCPath in all functional areas for transacting and transactor support. Involved in everyday transaction and data issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors related to UCPath customizations and security administration. Runs reports and produce SQL queries from a local data base and local systems (Cognos, data warehouse, PPS legacy systems) and others as assigned. Works with the campus community to answer diverse questions about UCPath and other system transactions and processes using strong knowledge of Work Force Administration (WFA), Pay Path as well as mid-level understanding of end-to-end Human Resources and payroll business processes. Improves projects under the direction of a senior Business Analyst position. UCI has successfully launched the UCPath application at UCI. UCI UCPath is supported by a dedicated project/implementation and operational team who work within UCIs community of UCPath users to support the system. The team is focused on stabilizing and operationalizing the system and processes across the enterprise and throughout the UC system. As we move into our third year of UCPath at UCI, we will continue to focus on opportunities for system improvements and to maximize efficiencies while we work with the UCI user community to support their needs.

$73,900.00 – $133,700.00 (Annual Salary)

Required:

  • 3 or more years as a business analyst/Oracle PeopleSoft systems working in an enterprise software environment, preferably a customized PeopleSoft implementation. 
  • Hands on ability to perform customized PeopleSoft transactions. 
  • Service Center model experience helpful. Requires 1 or more years of Oracle PeopleSoft experience, preferably in a college or university setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • PMI PMP desirable.
  • Yellow or black belt certification desirable. 
  • Lean Six Sigma certification desirable. 
  • Oracle PeopleSoft 9.2 systems or technical certification courses
  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, data analysis and transactor support. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. 
  • Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. 
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills. 
  • Broad knowledge relating to UCPath, UCPath PeopleSoft 9.2 and integrations. 
  • Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures. 
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. 
  • Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. 
  • Knowledge level minimum for P4 security protocols for sensitive user data 
  • Comfortable working with a central service center, location support center and diverse campus and medical center users with time sensitive support needs. 
  • Ability to be successful in a large production support team and interact with all levels of employees in a fast paced, technical environment responsible for time sensitive deadlines. 
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (speaking, written, presentation) to a diverse user community and provide accurate, timely updates on various projects. 
  • Ability to use the UCPath PeopleSoft 9.2 system, TnTJIRA, VPN, MS Suite, SQL and related system tools as assigned.
     

Preferred:
 
Thorough Knowledge of related areas of IT and technical skills including use of tools (SQL, lookup, Cognos, configurations, file transfer, security role administration) In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as user cases, test cases and narrative description. Both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated testing and test planning and execution skills.
