Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. The committee also plans holiday decorations, charity raffles, and outdoor events, helping create a warm and friendly community.PurposeThe purpose of this position is to install and maintain fixed mechanical equipment by diagnosing and repairing problems in accordance with relevant OEM and site standards and procedures.Essential DutiesPerform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:
- Promote a culture for full compliance with Newmont’s core values and site policies.
- Conduct daily safety toolbox meetings and oversee development of our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Job Safety Environment Analysis (JSEA’s) to ensure the safety of all mine personnel
- Work closely with planners to ensure parts and tools are available for tasks.
- Schedules, coordinates, trains, mentors, and supervises a team of millwrights ensuring tasks and assigned duties are clearly understood and successfully completed.
- Assist the with supervising daily repair work to ensure effective utilization of personnel, materials, and equipment.
- Plans and coordinates project strategies and completion targets to include labour, material, and equipment resource requirements to meet established objectives.
- Carry out routine mechanical maintenance of fixed equipment to the required standard of performance and safety
- Inspects hydraulic and pneumatic systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards & defects
- Diagnoses and repairs malfunctioning mechanical systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Read & interpret mechanical, and architectural drawings to determine layouts
- Plans sketches, layout & installation of equipment and fixtures based on job specifications
- Deliver daily updates at morning meeting to communicate any issues with mechanical function and equipment. Provide mitigations for resolving issues.
- Follow up on daily maintenance repairs to ensure all relevant components will be completed as planned
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other project supervisors or managers
- Monitor and evaluate mechanical components, controls & equipment operating procedures to minimize failures and downtime
- Recommend changes to installations for maintenance procedures when deemed necessary or appropriate
- Maintain fixed mechanical systems by conducting system tests and completing preventive maintenance requirements
- Maintains safe work environment by following established standards, and operating procedures
- Coordinate work assignments/projects in a timely manner to meet project deadlines
- Prepare time estimates for work orders and jobs to optimize resource allocation
Communicate, engage with and influence superintendents, supervisors and workers as a ‘trusted advisor’ to mitigate risk and optimize worker performance and health & safety:
- Demonstrate Newmont core values
- Demonstrate best practices for mechanical safety
- Develop good working relationships with underground operations
Training & Experience
- Valid inter-provincial Red Seal Millwright trade qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years Fixed Underground maintenance experience, Experience with Fixed mechanical underground equipment
- Minimum 3+ years Underground experience
- Experience with Fixed mechanical underground equipment
- Previous Leadership Experience
- Knowledge of underground operations.
- Familiar with the BC Mines Acts & Regulations
- Strong knowledge of Crushers, conveyors, pumps, vent doors, rock breakers, drives, and hydraulics.
Working Conditions
- Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation with 2 days travel.
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
- Able to work in close quarters with the team.
- Able to work underground in a mine-site setting.
- Able to wear appropriate and required underground Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

This wage is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
