About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for an Underground Instrumentation Specialist, to be responsible for performing planned and breakdown installation and maintenance on assigned equipment in the Underground in a safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner to ensure that equipment availability is maximized.We are an open, connected international team of technical specialists using some of the most exciting data and tools on the planet. These provide opportunities to grow your career through a dedicated technical path while being rewarded for your unique skillsReporting to the Engineer – Underground Technology, and working in an exciting environment, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring network administration and maintenance processes are followed as per policies set for each function.
- Primary focus on Underground related network design and implementation activities including proactive capacity analysis.
- Understanding and complying with all IT/OT policies, standards and procedures
- Planning and execute network capacity and device software/version upgrades as required.
- IP address management and allocation.
- Change management for network devices configuration and commissioning
- Liaising with vendors and support groups.
- Working with Mine providers, consultants, and suppliers to increase reliability, efficiency, and productivity of network instrumentation.
- Providing technical review and support for mining equipment implementation and installations.
- Assisting in the efficient commissioning of new installations and modifications, ensuring the network instrumentation has been fully tested prior to operational implementation.
- Keeping work areas clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis and conduct safety audits as per company policy, providing written reports to the supervisor as required.
- Working and promoting safety within the processing plant.
- As required, help develop communication technicians, including delegating tasks or projects that will assist with their skill development, so the individual can provide greater support.
What you’ll bringTo be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- College/University Education: Bachelor’s degree in information systems & technology or relevant field
- At least three years of related experience
- Strong knowledge and experience in Network field, especially IP Network
- Identify, troubleshoot, solve, and document network connectivity and performance issues
- Resolve day to day problems related with underground network and end user issues
- Other Qualifications: Firewall, IPS, Router, L3 and L2 Switches, Cisco Certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE)
- Ability to identify root causes to network automation and instrumentation failures and implementing solutions to prevent reoccurrence of issues.
- Experience working as an underground/heavy industry network engineer
- Knowledge of network systems for heavy industry
- Knowledge of industry design practices, control systems, and safety standards
- Knowledge of computer programs including common office software
- Ability to use sound and prudent judgment when troubleshooting while working with mine operations and personnel
- Strong planning, organizational, management and communications skills
