Job description
As the Unit Director, Institutional Partnerships you will drive and deliver our global strategy, approach and partnerships with foundations and all (non-USG) multi and bilateral organisations. You will provide senior leadership in strategy development, strategy implementation and optimal delivery of 7 figure+, multi-year, long-term partnerships and partnership opportunities across both financial and non-financial objectives, delivering m2m’s global resource mobilisation strategy and m2m’s organisational strategy. You will generate new business opportunities, explore new markets, partnerships and opportunities optimising both existing and new prospect partners. You will deliver a high-performing, best practise Institutional Partnership function for m2m globally.
Key Performance Areas:
Partnership Management:
All Institutional Partnership team members will each manage a portfolio of partnerships. As Director you will 1) manage a portfolio of our most strategic partners yourself as well as 2) lead the team of partnership experts in optimal partnership management providing support & challenge creating a culture of high performance and delivery of results.
New Business:
All Institutional Partnership team members are accountable for the delivery of New Business. As Director you will deliver significant new business opportunities and approaches yourself using existing personal and/ or m2m networks. And you will lead the team in driving and delivering significant and creative new business approaches, strategies and opportunities across our target industries.
Content Leadership:
All Institutional Partnership team members will serve as internal experts and leads of specific donors, thematic approaches, funding trends ie results-based financing. As Director you will oversee and lead full coverage of specialisms ensuring m2m’s partnership approaches are externally agile and positions us as the partner of choice. You, along with your team members, will serve as the internal expert and go-to resource and advisor for all institutional partnerships.
Organisational Leadership:
All Institutional Partnership team members are expected to lead and contribute to critical organisational projects. As Director, you will allocate time to lead and/ or contribute to specialist projects that progress your own and/ or critical organisational objectives. You will also deputise for the Director of Programme Partnerships as required.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educated to master’s level or equivalent experience – 8-10 years with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge and experience in international development and/or public health sectors.
- Demonstrated and significant experience and success in institutional partnership cultivation and management
- Proven track record in reaching targets, delivering partnerships, and securing financial and non-financial critical resources from a range of partners.
- Proven ability to identify and develop new business with experience of developing and implementing fundraising strategies and securing a high level of funds from a range of sources.
- Significant experience of managing high level external relationships, with excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Senior strategic thinker with expert understanding and interest in trends affecting development and partnerships.
- A commercial/ entrepreneurial outlook based on experience in managing long term partnerships, having experience gained within a marketing, client management or sales environment in a public or private fundraising context.
- Excellent project management, planning and prioritising skills to manage a varied and pressurised workload while focusing on the “big picture.”
- Understands and applies commercial and financial principles to improve performance.
