Unit 3-7’s target population is individuals that have been ordered by the courts to undergo a forensic evaluation to determine Fitness to Stand Trial, Criminal Responsibility, and/or undergo a Risk Assessment. This unit specializes in adults who are in custody and meet the criteria of the Mental Health Act and who are under the purview of the Alberta Review Board or Corrections. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Unit Manager will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide leadership, foster team-building and lead clinical care within Forensic Services. This position is responsible for: Managing administrative activities for professional and auxiliary staff, including recruitment and evaluations. Investigating complaints, resolving issues (both patient and staff) and following up where required. Also to: Promote safety and security of staff, patients, families and other parties. Ensure the effective and efficient admission, discharge and transfer of patients to/from the unit and coordinate additional healthcare supports as required. Participate in the overall quality of clinical practice and patient care by assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of the program’s quality improvement activities. Work in partnership with the program physicians to maintain and/or enhance program goals and objectives. Makes recommendations for changes in clinical standards and practices. Participate in regular multidisciplinary meetings to ensure overall management of the plan of care and address issues. Engage all disciplines to address and resolve unit specific issues and concerns. Provide support while promoting and facilitating effective multidisciplinary team dynamics (team building).

Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in a health professions field. Current registration and membership in good standing with a professional college. 1-2 years related supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare environment. 2-4 years current relevant clinical experience in a healthcare environment.
Additional Required Qualifications:Competent in leading self, engaging others, achieving results, building relationships and championing system change.
Preferred Qualifications:Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
