- Digital is a fundamental element of the Brambles transformation strategy. We will use our existing and new digital capabilities and information to power smarter more sustainable supply chains allowing us to reimage how we work and serve customers; reshape how we manage our assets and reinvent our business models allowing greater partnership with customers which solve customer problems.
- The Design Operations UX Lead will design and execute a portfolio of activities geared towards understanding, assessing and improving our general design operations. Whilst the actual scope of change will be driven by the outcome of initial assessments, a portfolio of DesignOps changes will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our design functions. DesignOps will deliver a sustainable set of systems and processes that can scale and flex to suit the changing needs of the organisation over time.
- The DesignOps UX Lead is a key role within Brambles Digital intended to help establish and execute a unified design strategy across DXB Digital, bridging future thinking and long-term innovation with day-to-day tactical design needs.
- This role is key to ensure user centred design thinking and promote UX best practice across multidisciplinary teams and BXB digital leadership.
Key Accountabilities
- Design-centric Planning – how is work originated, how is it prioritised, planned, scheduled, mobilised etc.
- Design Thinking – what are the techniques we use to research and execute design. What should be consistent and standardised versus allowing some creative freedom?
- Project Methodologies – how are design projects structured, agile vs waterfall, integration with wider business, consistent reporting etc.
- Tooling – what are the standard tools to be used for various tasks. How can we minimise cost whilst aiding effective collaboration?
- Design Principles – what makes our designs ‘uniquely Brambles’? How do our brand values translate into design and user-experience?
- Standards & Governance – what are our minimum quality standards, how do we govern against them and measure our effectiveness?
- Design Systems – ensuring a consistent set of design libraries, widely adopted by design teams with proactive contribution processes to drive the right balance of consistency and innovation.
- Measurement – defining how we measure the benefits of standards, but also embedding a culture of metrics-driven design thinking.
- Organisation / Team Design – ensuring departments, teams, job descriptions etc. are aligned to our operational strategy.
- Design Culture – a variety of formal and informal techniques to drive a thriving design culture where sharing, innovating, learning and optimising are embedded aspects of our ways of working.
Experience
- Strong strategy, product and service design credentials in a cross functional environment
- Experience in people management and setting up function / teams
- 10+ years’ experience in design operations leadership roles, with exposure to a wide array of technologies, methodologies and business environments.
Skills
- Demonstrable experience gained in all of the design operations aspects detailed above.
- A background in building digital products for Android, iOS, web platforms. With a broad range of experience across B2C, B2B, SaaS.
- Excellent understanding of design/UX toolkits and how to apply them pragmatically.
- Strong project management skills, with experience of different methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Lean, Waterfall) and the skills to apply them correctly to the right context.
- Very strong stakeholder management with the ability to constructively challenge and influence.
- A proven track record of leading and managing design teams.
- Excellent understanding of what good design and user-experience delivery looks like.
Qualifications
- Ideally degree educated or equivalent industry experience.
- Desirable Qualifications: A degree, masters or PhD in one or more of the following;
Human Centred Design, Human Factors, Human-computer interaction, Psychology, Computer science, Information systems, Design, Anthropology.
