What is the opportunity?

RBCx is a full-service platform to accelerate the entrepreneurial journey at every stage of growth – providing access to capital solutions, innovative products and services, and operational expertise to help technology and venture capital companies’ scale. Simply put, members of our Credit Advisory team are advisors who help entrepreneurs navigate the hardest pain points of scaling a business – from ideation to IPO and beyond.

Our Vice President, Credit Advisory understands the challenges start-up and scale-up tech companies face in Canada and how RBCx can help leverage capital and non-capital solutions. They provide customized credit solutions that align sales, products, risk policy and market strategies. As a strategic partner, they are engaged with the client and Relationship Management team as they manage the credit underwriting, structuring and portfolio monitoring process.

What will you do?

  • Become a trusted credit advisor to our tech and life science clients and play a role as a partner in their growth journey.
  • Provide credit solutions, strategic advice, and lead analysis on transaction structuring and the underwriting process.
  • Responsible for analysis and documentation required for new or increased credit transactions, advise on annual renewals and aid with portfolio management and compliance support
  • Collaborate with Relationship Management to provide quality business analysis and credit advice through options that clearly articulate advantages and benefits to the client
  • Demonstrate RBCx’s capability to provide creative financial solutions in a timely manner and deliver credit solutions that meet or exceed needs
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and collaboration to meet the needs of all clients
  • Exercise due diligence in recommending credit applications, working in collaboration with Risk Management, especially in supporting risk processes, guidelines and portfolio monitoring

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • At least 3 years’ experience in commercial lending in a financial institution including financial modeling (i.e. Group Risk Manager, Commercial Account Manager, or Commercial Credit Advisor & Analyst)
  • Proven analytical and technical commercial credit skills
  • Desire to provide rapidly scaling innovative Canadian companies with tailored proposals for Lines of Credit and Venture Debt that meet their specific needs
  • Collaborate with the Relationship Management team to acquire new clients and grow revenues, as well as manage existing portfolio quality
  • Strong business and financial acumen and are analytical and articulate
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlines

Nice-to-have

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated interest in technology or life sciences
  • Accounting designation (CPA/CA/CGA/CMA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
