Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?You will manage and develop a team of credit professionals that are responsible for a portfolio of credit relationships within designated industry sectors. In addition to providing administrative oversight to the team’s assigned portfolio, you will lead and foster relationships with the following key internal stakeholders to support the growth of the RBC Capital Markets loan book and trading business. Key internal stakeholders include: Corporate Banking (CB), Group Risk Management (GRM), Global Markets (GM), Global Loans Administration (GLA), and Global Banking Service Centre (GBSC).What will you do?You will have an assigned portfolio, and will be responsible for the administration of your team’s portfolio, which includes multinational and other large corporate lending relationships, and will provide additional support to several Corporate Banking teams. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Annual Reviews: Manage the team’s workflow to ensure Annual Reviews of existing credit relationships are completed in a timely fashion. Conduct regular reviews with team members to maintain a high quality of work, and to identify learning opportunities.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure credit agreement terms are correctly reflected in the Bank’s systems and that all credit documentation is accounted for and reviewed in a timely basis (e.g. credit agreements, amendments, waivers, security documents).
  • Corporate Banking (CB) / Global Markets (GM) Support: Provide transactional support to CB / GM which includes but is not limited to: credit transaction requests (new credit, refinancing requests, renewals, covenant waivers, loan documentation reviews), trading line requests, and cash management requests.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely and maintain positive relationships with Corporate Banking (CB), Group Risk Management (GRM), Global Markets (GM), and Global Loans Administration (GLA). You will be your team’s primary point of contact and will conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to ensure a high level of service is provided to other groups within the Bank.
  • Coaching & Team Management: Provide regular feedback and coaching on employee performance and progress against goals, career progression, and continual training. Stay up to date on Bank policy, credit trends, and industry research in an effort to develop a high performing team in which team members produce insightful, high quality work in a timely manner.
  • Other Responsibilities: Other ad-hoc responsibilities may include presenting to key stakeholders, reporting portfolio statistics, and periodic process reviews in order to promote a culture of continuous process improvement.

What do you need to succeed?

  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of work experience in corporate lending, credit risk management, or client relationship management.
  • An MBA or a Professional Designation (e.g. CPA, CFA) is considered an asset.
  • Strong financial & risk analysis skills, with a good understanding of accounting standards and financial modelling.
  • Strong understanding of credit documentation (e.g. loan agreements, security documents).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong negotiation skills and an ability to manage conflicting demands and viewpoints, and multiple stakeholder expectations.
  • People management & coaching experience and an ability to work effectively within a team environment and to interact with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize competing work streams, and perform well under pressure in order to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Familiarity with RBC Capital Markets systems & credit processes is considered an asset.
