The Vice-President has ultimate responsibility for the group’s strategies and systems relating to portfolio growth and risk management. The role is accountable to build revenue, provide earnings stability through client retention, and enhance the client experience. The ideal candidate is a strong team leader capable of building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to drive profitability.As an organizational leader, this role champions:CIBC employee experience principles:Always professional… so our team members can excel and be their best professional self.Radically simple… so our team members can focus on what they need to do and make an impact.Genuinely caring… so our team members can feel valued for who they are and what they contribute.CIBC leadership capabilities:Envisions the future…to innovate purposefully to create new value and harness new capabilities in order to meet the evolving needs of our diverse stakeholders.Inspires hearts and minds…to build an inclusive culture where we make bold choices, collaborate, and empower others to take chances and do what’s right for our stakeholders.Drives action and impact, together…to align with urgency around what matters, making decisions with speed and always making a real difference.What You’ll be DoingAct as a lead representative for CIBC and the Leveraged Finance Group both internally and within the financial community.Building relationships with Private Equity firms, and other internal and external advocates through expert application of developed Relationship Management skills and demonstration of complex credit structuring experience.Lead partnerships with commercial customers and Private Equity firms to deliver specialized leveraged finance products such as mezzanine financing, acquisition financing, and other structured financings based on a firm’s enterprise value, as well as capital call facilities at the fund level.Lead the discussions with client management (executive, financial and operational) in order to assess financing needs.Provide guidance and coaching to deal team leads when performing comprehensive financial/non-financial due diligence analysis and risk assessment of credit proposals.Lead the negotiation of the terms and conditions with clients and internal CIBC stakeholders for critical or high net value transactions.Monitor and supervise portfolio of senior and subordinated debt accounts, performance and industry trends and maintain a proactive approach to continuous risk assessment.Develop strong relationships with internal contacts, external customers, along with contacts within the general industry in order to generate new business referrals and opportunities.Structuring complex transactions within CIBC’s risk tolerances that meet the needs of complex and high value clients.Oversight of detailed financial analysis and due diligence reviews.Liaise with other units of CIBC (i.e. Capital Partners, Credit Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Investment Banking etc.; Risk Management; Commercial Banking – Mid-Market Investment Banking, Global Banking and Trade Solutions, and Cash Management).Leading the development and maintaining a comprehensive internal and external marketing and communication program.Provide leadership and guidance to a team of professionals to ensure individual and business goals are achieved and/or exceeded. This includes attracting, aligning, motivating, and retaining a team with the competencies to meet present and future business goals.Lead development of the integrated strategy for ongoing revenue and profit growth, pursuing new opportunities and keeping CIBC competitive in services that are key to the franchise.Develop and leverage portfolio, segment and client analytics to optimize ongoing profitability and identification of sales and relationship opportunities.Foster relationships with key business partners (Commercial Banking, Technology, Risk Management, Global Capital Markets, Legal, etc.) to ensure the business is well positioned to achieve the business and financial objectives.Develop strong relationships with industry associations and peers at competitor organizations to stay abreast of changing industry trends and apply expert knowledge of a complex and diverse marketplace and industry to meet the needs of sophisticated clientele.Establish, monitor and refine goals, objectives and priorities and ensure that roles and accountabilities are defined and understood by all staff.What We’re Looking ForExpert knowledge of leveraged finance (i.e., capital structures, capital markets, public and private debt and equity markets).Expert knowledge of leveraged finance products (i.e., structured/acquisition financings, project financings, loan syndication) and other CIBC products and services.Extensive knowledge of the business, accounting, legal, tax, banking and regulatory framework affecting customers.Exceptional lending and analytical skills – knowledge of lending policies, procedures and practices, asset-security valuation, industry and competitive analysis.Strong proposal formulation skills – structuring and packaging of leveraged finance products (i.e. structuring financing options, security evaluation and documentation, establishing terms and conditions, pricing).Compelling and persuasive selling, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills – formidable communication capabilities.Hold a BBA/MBA.
