Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As Vice-President, Senior Commercial Markets, you lead and coach a team of Senior Commercial Relationship Managers aligned to our Senior Commercial Markets (SCM) client segment within Commercial Financial Services (CFS), defined as commercial clients with annual sales revenue between $25MM and $100MM. As a proactive One RBC market leader with strong business development, relationship management, and leadership skills, you provide guidance, advice and oversight on all aspects of new client acquisition, deepening existing client relationships, portfolio management, and profitability. You successfully execute RBC and CFS strategic business priorities of delivering a highly differentiated client experience and value proposition to enhance client loyalty and grow revenue.What will you do?Lead and coach a team of relationship management specialists with deep understanding of SCM industry trends, regulatory requirements, competitive conditions, and market opportunities to ensure best-in-class client experiences. Coach team members to maintain a balance of sales results, portfolio profitability and strong client relationships, and to use proactive client relationship management skills for effective price/fee negotiation within prescribed guidelines.Play an active role in relationship management of the most complex client relationships.Work in close partnership with CFS Finance and Group Risk Management to support client credit needs by remaining actively engaged in all opportunities from identification to funding.Lead and ensure a strong culture of risk management and compliance is in place.Develop and maintain strong practice management routines with the SCM Client Relationship Team and partner routines with Mid-Market Commercial to ensure we’re aligning the right expertise and capability to each client relationship.As a proactive One RBC market leader with a client growth mindset you collaborate with leaders across RBC (e.g. IM, PB, WM) to bring the best of RBC to businesses, business owners and their employees. You have a strong market presence, attending industry and client events, and maintain an active network of external partners and centres of influence (COIs).Ensure strong talent management routines are in place including training and development plans for each relationship manager. Maintain an active and diverse pipeline of talent to meet future team requirements from both growth and turnover.What do you need to succeed?Must-haveStrong sales leadership experienceStrong business development skills with proven abilities in development of COIsMinimum five years’ experience in large commercial credit ($5MM+)Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or Finance with strong analytical skills, as well as an ability to analyze company financial statementsProfessional verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detailProven track record in financial and credit analysis in support of exceptional client relationship managementStrong organizational skills, ability to perform well under pressure, manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlinesExperience and comfort with emerging technology (e.g. video conferencing, social media, digital banking and mobile applications)Nice to haveMBA and/or CFAExperience managing remote teamsWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
