Nuveen’s Private Equity Impact strategy focuses on two primary themes – Climate Mitigation & Adaptation and Inclusion & Affordability – that aim to drive an inclusive transition to a sustainable economy. The Private Equity Impact team aims to generate strong, risk-adjusted returns for its investors while concurrently achieving important social and environmental outcomes aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, by investing in companies that drive efficiency, productivity, and scale in sustainable development for underserved people and the planet.Nuveen’s Private Equity Impact team currently consists of nine dedicated team members, who are responsible for making direct private equity investments as both a minority investor in later-stage growth equity financings, as well as selectively as a control investor in lower-middle market buyouts. The group’s investments are truly global in nature, with a portfolio currently comprised of companies in both emerging and developed markets. In addition to its primary focus on direct investments, the team also manages a targeted private equity fund investment program on behalf of TIAA.The Vice President plays a critical role in the overall investment process including leading the development of investment theses and investment committee memos, financial modeling and valuation, due diligence, transaction structuring, definitive documentation, and ongoing portfolio company support, including proactive value creation. Working directly with Managing Directors, the Vice President is a growth role designed for an experienced private equity investor who is eager to learn, and enthusiastic about the role, that private equity can play in addressing some of society’s broader challenges. The team currently possesses a strong, cohesive and supportive culture that uses a collaborative approach towards investing and adding value to portfolio companies. This position will be based in our New York City office.Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead key parts of the investment process including initial deal screening, financial modeling and valuation, due diligence, transactions structuring, and definitive documentation
- Manage deal teams effectively to meet critical investment process deadlines
- Prepare investment presentations and present investment opportunities to the Investment Committee
- Conduct top-down market research to identify new whitespace across all Impact sub-sectors
- Lead ESG and Impact strategy and due diligence for new investments and portfolio companies
- Provide support for ongoing Impact monitoring and measurement across the portfolio
- Portfolio management including financial performance analysis on an ongoing basis, and engaging with management teams to identify risks early and drive value creation
- Network and liaise with key relationships including advisors, industry partners, and the broader Nuveen platform

Career Level
7ICRequired Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ of relevant work experience in a finance or investment role;
- Previous private equity experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university, with a strong GPA and academic background; MBA preferred
- 5+ years of experience of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated interest, or prior experience, in impact investing
- Prior experience managing deal teams
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Results driven, effective problem solver
- Collaborative team player, building partnerships with others to meet shared objectives
