The opportunity

The Vice President, Product Strategy and Development will play a central and pivotal role within CWB, interacting with most of the key stakeholders across the organization. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Client Solutions, the successful incumbent will contribute significantly to the business strategic planning process and take a leadership role in the development of numerous strategic initiatives for CWB to deliver superb client value propositions and earnings results. This senior leader will play an important role in the development and deployment of the bank’s business and product strategy across personal and business banking; they will have strategy, innovation and product leadership responsibilities, and develop expertise across the value chain including client segmentation and lifecycles. The ideal candidate should bring energy and excitement for the mandate, have authentic alignment with the values of the organization, exhibit entrepreneurial DNA, and be a strategic thinker. They should have a deep background in personal and commercial products, be comfortable building plans from the ground up, have strong financial acumen, and be able to effectively deal with challenges along the way, with poise.

Key focuses

Product & Business Strategy & Development

Develop and lead the Product Development Strategy and ongoing management of the Bank’s current and future suite of business and personal banking products and services, ensuring client and growth objectives are achieved. This includes accountability for Personal and Business Lending, Creditor Insurance, Deposit and Cash Management and Payments products.

Fee & Margin Optimization

Develop, prioritize, and deploy ongoing management of fee and margin optimization initiatives to drive revenue growth and market competitiveness.

Leadership

Lead, build and manage a high performing team – establish the vision for Product Strategy and Development at CWB and mobilize cross-functional teams to deliver on the plans.

Pivotal experience, expertise & culture impact

Product Expertise: 12+ years of progressive experience in personal and commercial banking product strategy and development. A history of exceeding revenue, margin, and delivery commitments.

Product Evolution: Proven success driving product evolution and innovation and establishing and implementing progressive and sophisticated practices and metrics.

Stakeholder Management: Previous success effectively managing a broad range of stakeholders; experience establishing a strong partnership model cross-functionally and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve business goals.

Talent Management: Strong people management and development skills; a history of building followership. Proven track record of driving positive employee engagement.

Execution Excellence: The ability to balance strategic vision with execution excellence; the desire and aptitude to understand and own the details.

Drive for Results: Driven, with the confidence to take action. Prioritizes efforts; simplifies the complex. Productive; takes ownership and delivers results. Possesses the energy and determination to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
