What is the opportunity?
RBCx is a full-service platform to accelerate the entrepreneurial journey at every stage of growth – providing access to capital solutions, innovative products and services, and operational expertise to help technology companies scale. Simply put, members of our relationship management team are advisors who help entrepreneurs navigate the hardest pain points of scaling a business – from ideation to IPO and beyond.
Our VP, Relationship Management understands the challenges start-up and scale-up tech companies face in Canada and how RBCx can help leverage capital and non-capital solutions. They provide customized solutions that align sales, products, risk policy, and market strategies. Their highly-developed experience with financial analysis, credit and client acquisition will shine as they deliver solutions by combining their relationship and portfolio management talent and passion for client service.
As a senior member of the team, our VP, Relationship Management will show leadership capabilities through coaching and mentoring of team members while acting as a delegate for the Director, RBCx.
What will you do?
- Become a trusted advisor to our tech clients and play a role as a partner in their growth journey.
- Provide financial solutions, strategic advice, as well as initiate introductions to people or businesses that can help our clients.
- Apply a continuous-improvement approach to delivering a superior client experience.
- Create deep and meaningful relationships with our clients, ensuring their needs are prioritized at all times – whether they’re a startup, scaleup, entrepreneur or venture capital firm.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to other Relationship Management team members
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Some banking experience: at least 1-2 years in commercial lending or business banking.
- Technical capability: you are comfortable with data modeling and analysis.
- Passion for the tech sector: you want to play a role in Canada’s innovation economy.
- Empathy for the unknown and ever-changing: a tech company needs can change often – and we need you to be comfortable with throwing plans out the window and going back to the drawing board when needed.
- Excitement for trying new things: RBCx is building an end-to-end platform complete with capital and non-capital solutions to help our clients thrive. We will be continuously building, launching new products, and expanding our capabilities, and being able to embrace a constant state of improvement and innovation will be paramount.
Nice-to-have
- You may have been in the trenches before: experience as an entrepreneur, launching a business or working in a start-up.
- You may have academic exposure through a post-secondary diploma/degree in commerce or business administration, or related experience.
- This isn’t your first time in a business development role.
- You actively foster a continuous learning mindset and professional development of team members by growing, developing and learning as a leader and coach
