Job ResponsibilitiesIndividual will work independently with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and other partner organizations. Individual will meet with landowners and land managers, create wildlife management plans, inform the public of federal, state, and NGO programs available to them, assist NRCS in planning, contracting, and certification of NRCS cost share programs. Individual will also participate in outreach/educational events across the state and present management, biological or program information pertaining to wildlife as requested in their assigned counties. Individual will assist with wildlife and habitat surveys in designated counties. Other duties include operation of tractors, heavy equipment, hand tools, chemical application, and prescribed burning. Work may include unusual hours, possible weekends, and will involve occasional overnight travel.Minimum and Additional RequirementsA master’s degree in biology, chemistry or related technical area field; or a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related technical area and two (2) years of experience relevant to the job.Preferred QualificationsA fundamental understanding of early succession vegetation management techniques associated with agriculture and forest management desired. Applicant should be able to communicate well orally and literately.
