As our Women’s Assistant coach you will be a part of our growing Women’s programme at an exciting time.The Opportunity:
We are seeking a qualified and driven coach to join us as a Women’s Assistant Coach reporting to the Women’s Performance Lead. In this role you will contribute to the coaching and development of Women’s Rugby at Bath, focusing on Bath RFC Ladies and Bath Rugby 7s.Contract:
This role will be 7-8 hours per/week on a fixed term contract running from July 2024 to July 2025 with review to extend.Core responsibilities:

  • Coaching of BRL 1XV

o Assisting on the planning, delivery, and review of BRL 1XV matches and training sessions attending training on Tuesdays and Thursdays and matchdays.
o Assist with selection of the 1XV, whilst inputting where needed into wider club selections. Offering individual feedback and progression points.
o Input, develop and implement a Game Model that suits the players and club vision.
o Have oversight over a specific/specialist area such as Forwards/Backs/Attack/Defence for the 1XV – communicating this across the club effectively.
o Work collaboratively and closely with Head Coach (Women’s Performance Lead), S&C and medic.
o Contribute to recruitment of players as agreed with Director of Rugby, Head Coach, and committee.

  • Coaching of Bath Rugby 7s

o Assisting on the planning, delivery, and review of Bath Rugby 7s tournaments and training sessions. With training mandatory and tournaments desirable.
o Work collaboratively and closely with Head Coach (WPL), S&C team and medic to ensure the programme meets high performance standards.
o To contribute to recruitment of players as agreed with Head Coach.
o Promote a positive team culture that supports the development and well-being of players both on and off the field
o Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in women’s rugby, and use this knowledge to continuously improve the programme

  • Other duties as required by the WPL or club.

Skills and Experience required:

  • RFU (or equivalent) coaching qualification (England Rugby Coaching Award) with Advanced Award preferred.
  • An area of coaching specialism e.g., forwards/backs/attack/defence whilst comfortable coaching all areas.
  • Knowledge and understanding of rugby sevens and the tactical nuances compared to fifteens.
  • Previous experience of coaching Women’s Rugby at University, Club, national level.
  • Degree in Sport Coaching/Sports and Exercise Science or equivalent experience.
  • A passion for developing players and championing women’s sport.
  • Excellent communication skills, specifically interpersonal skills in 1-1 situations and team.
  • Connections to players both locally and nationally to help drive the recruitment plans.
  • Track record of CPD/coach development – staying up to date with trends, research and learning in rugby and women’s sport – identifying what may work in this environment.
