Position InformationJob Title Writing Intern with Notre Dame Research
Job DescriptionThe mission of Notre Dame Research (NDR) is to “grow, strengthen, promote, translate, and safeguard research, scholarship, and creative endeavor” at the University. The Writing Intern will support this mission through the creation of written content NDR’s for internal and external audiences.The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in telling the story of Notre Dame researchers’ groundbreaking discoveries in science, engineering, and other fields. They will be an excellent writer with a facility for technical information about grants, awards, fellowships, and published research in an engaging and accurate way.Under the direction of NDR’s Writer and Editorial Program Manager, the NDR Writing Intern will:-Collaborate with NDR’s in-house communications team and partners across campus.
-Create updates for NDR’s websites about grants, awards, and fellowships.
-Assist with writing interview questions and interviewing faculty members about their work.
-Edit written copy for newsletters, brochures, and more.
-Gain a deep understanding of the research lifecycle and especially the importance of communicating success to external audiences.Students from Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s, Holy Cross or other colleges may apply. Notre Dame students will have the possibility to continue their employment through the 2024-2025 academic year.
Minimum Qualifications-Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; attention to detail.
-Multi-tasking skills and ability to adhere to deadlines.
-A personal laptop with reliable internet access.
Preferred Qualifications-Basic knowledge of Google Groups, Google Forms, and Google Docs preferred.
