The Youth Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway are offering an opportunity for adults who have experience in working with young people to join an innovative and award winning youth work team to deliver a range of informal learning programmes and personalised support to young people within Dumfries and Galloway.
This post will play a crucial role in supporting young people through junior youth work and within the community, working as part of the Youth Enquiry Service Team, rolling out their nationally recognised model for working with our most vulnerable young people in each school as part of the focus on reducing the attainment gap.
You will be required to work 25 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the area of individual support
and group work, and creatively be able to plan, deliver and evaluate their work
with young people, whilst also being able to work as part of a team, and
support young people from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.
You should be motivated and interested in working with young people in an
informal way. You will have experience in youth work and be good with
people and be willing to work evenings and weekends on a weekly basis.
All training required will be provided.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
The post holders will be expected to work a minimum of 3 evenings per week.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and
Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act
2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join
the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal
offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if
offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required
to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the
country or countries in which they were resident.
These posts are externally funded by the Scottish Government and are fixed term for a period of 2 years
