SUMMARY:Reporting directly to the Director, Samuel Family Office, the Accounting Coordinator is a critical role that will provide a full range of accounting and bookkeeping functions and support all activities within the family office such as, office administration, filing, banking and treasury functions, insurance, GST and personal taxes, payroll. This is an ideal position for a trusted accountant and administrative professional who enjoys having close relationships with family shareholders, while maintaining the highest levels of discretion and trust.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for dealing with accounting for multiple people and/or companies within a single organization
- Responsible for managing personal holding companies and interests for the Samuel family with the ability to account for all activities
- Ensure that all transactional entries are properly supported. Monitor and report on key metrics including days abroad, cash balances, investments, etc.
- Responsible for the wire and cheque creation duties of an accounting position as well as daily accounting and month end accounting responsibilities and requirements
- Proficient at creating financial statements and possesses the financial acumen to understand financial reports and accounting activities
- Strong writing skills for correspondence and various documents representing the Family Office
- Administrative duties such as electronically filing, confirming wire instructions with new vendors and/or confirmation of existing instructions when required, creating donation letters from a standard approved template as well as deposits to the bank
- Build and shepherd strong working relationships with colleagues and professionals, strategic partners, external clients and suppliers
- Perform ad hoc duties as required
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor`s Degree or accounting designation preferred
- Experience with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, or clients supporting their financial, administrative and needs is preferred
- Full cycle accounting for the family entities – individual tax and household, investment entities partnerships, trusts and foundations. Experience ensuring portfolio tracking and investment accounting is accurate
- Proven experience working closely with outside tax accountants and other consultants while supporting family meetings with reports and presentations as required
- Experience keeping books for multiple entities
- Efficient with QuickBooks software solutions and comfortable using an enterprise mainframe accounting system
- Strong PC skills – proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellence and thoroughness in all levels of communications, reporting and filing
- Organizational skills, ability to prioritize – effective time management skills; ability to meet deadlines and immense attention to detail
- Comfortable leading administrative communications with executives, their assistants and other stakeholders
