Job profile and responsibilities

We are offering a full-time position as Health & Safety Adviser and we are looking for a proactive, solution-oriented graduate with outstanding scientific, legal or political skills to join our team in Brussels, Belgium. As a H&S Adviser, you’ll assess and manage the files, and advise the members on chemicals policies (REACH, CLP, Biocides), workplace legislation, social affairs, products regulation (Food, Feed, Cosmetics, Pesticides, …) and related issues relevant to the industrial minerals industry. Your functions will also include developing and implementing product stewardship programmes and coordination of EU-funded projects.

We welcome applications from beginners and junior professionals who wish to develop their careers in the EU affairs in Brussels.

Essential job functions

  • Analysis of regulations, drafting of position papers, technical files and meeting reports;
  • Coordinating IMA-Europe positions and advocacy with the members and relevant stakeholders;
  • Relations with EU institutions and agencies, NGOs, institutes and scientific & industry experts.

Qualifications and requirements

  • University degree in science (e.g. geology, chemistry, biology), or in political sciences – European affairs – Law;
  • Fluent in English (French, German or Spanish is an asset);
  • Rigorous, efficient and with excellent analytical, drafting and organisational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: Diplomatic, flexible, assertive;
  • Interest in EU initiatives, legislation and regulatory processes;
  • Curious and willing to learn;
  • Ability to work on multiple diverse assignments.
