Introduction

The Joint Programme “Unlocking the Olive Economy: A Pathway to Sustainable Food Systems in Jordan” aims to contribute to the transformation of Jordan’s olive and olive oil value chain into a more inclusive, climate-resilient and investment-ready sector, while providing a sector-specific model for broader food systems transformation in Jordan. The programme seeks to strengthen the sustainability, competitiveness and resilience of the olive and olive oil value chain while ensuring that the benefits of transformation reach women, youth and other value-chain actors.

The programme adopts an integrated approach that combines improved planning and governance, increased access to finance and investment, stronger value-chain coordination, and support for more sustainable and innovative production and business practices. Attention is given to SMEs operating in olive processing, packaging and trade, with the programme supporting them to strengthen their operations, improve investment readiness and access financing, while promoting greater participation of women and young people across the value chain.

To support the achievement of the programme’s objectives and promote broad, inclusive and transparent participation, UNDP and the Cities and Villages Development Bank will launch an open call for applications targeting eligible SMEs and cooperatives operating across Jordan’s olive and olive oil value chain. The open call will provide a structured mechanism for interested enterprises and cooperatives to express their interest and be considered for participation in relevant programme interventions, in accordance with defined eligibility and selection criteria.

The objective of this assignment is to support UNDP in outreach to eligible SMEs and cooperatives operating across Jordan’s olive and olive oil value chain, including women-led enterprises, for participation in the activities of the Joint Programme “Unlocking the Olive Economy: A Pathway to Sustainable Food Systems in Jordan.”

In partnership and close coordination with UNDP and the Cities and Villages Development Bank, the assignment will facilitate orientation of selected SMEs on the programme’s scope and expected participation. The assignment also includes the completion of an initial assessment of the machinery, equipment and technology needs of participating SMEs to inform subsequent technical support under the programme.

All activities under this assignment should be carried out under the overall guidance of UNDP and in close coordination with relevant programme partners, including the Ministry of Agriculture, the Cities and Villages Development Bank (CVDB), the Jordan Cooperatives Corporation and the Jordanian Olive Oil Producers and Mill Owners Syndicate.
