Job Purpose
The Standards and Training Officer will support the Quality Supervisor by assisting with the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of training and quality standards across operational teams. This role will focus on ensuring adherence to established procedures and providing guidance on training requirements. The ST Officer will work independently on specified tasks, requiring specialized knowledge in training standards.
Job Description
Training Support and Documentation
- Collaborate with the Standards and Training Coordinator to develop, revise, and refine training materials, ensuring they are up-to-date with current policies and practices.
- Organize and maintain a comprehensive database of training resources, including manuals, presentations, guides, and instructional materials, to support field and operational staff effectively.
- Facilitate the documentation of all training sessions, including attendance records, training evaluations, and feedback forms, to ensure accurate and complete records of all activities.
- Support the delivery of training sessions by preparing materials, setting up venues, and coordinating with trainers and attendees for efficient session flow.
- Deliver specific mine action theory and practical lessons in line with personal qualifications and experiences as directed by the STC.
- Develop summary reports on training activities, participation rates, and feedback, contributing to evaluations of training effectiveness and areas for improvement.
- Conduct monthly stockchecks of Free From Explosive (FFE) items used in training.
Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring
- Conduct regular quality assurance and quality control checks on technical operations and training to verify adherence to established standards and guidelines, reporting any non-compliance or deviations.
- Ensure accurate completion of Quality Assurance Evaluation Forms (QAEF) ensuring non-conformities are justified with reference to MAG Iraq SOPs and policies. Immediately advise QS and STM of any critical non-conformities.
- Participate in reviewing training records, verifying that training completion, certification, and compliance tracking to meet organizational standards.
- Participate in reviewing MAG Iraq SOPs.
- Ensure that training environments and materials comply with safety standards, implementing checklists for physical and procedural readiness before training sessions.
- Observe training sessions as needed to assess effectiveness, compile observations, and provide structured feedback to the Standards and Training Coordinator.
- Assist in the development of QA protocols and contribute to quarterly reviews to assess the alignment of training activities with organizational goals.
Coordination and Logistical Support
- Work closely with the Standards and Training Coordinator to identify upcoming training needs and coordinate scheduling, communicating with staff to confirm participation.
- Manage the logistics of training events, such as preparing the venues, coordinating equipment needs, arranging for catering when applicable, and ensuring that all training materials are available on-site.
- Assist in the creation of an annual training calendar, maintaining updates to align with program priorities and operational demands.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation of training initiatives, serving as a liaison for training-related inquiries from operational teams.
Operational Support and Guidance
- Act as a resource for field and operational staff by providing guidance on training protocols and assisting with questions related to quality and standards.
- Develop simple guides, checklists, and FAQs for common training issues, enabling operations staff to independently address minor challenges and standardizing responses across teams as directed by the STC, QM or STM.
- Support the roll-out of new training programs by conducting information sessions and distributing relevant materials to staff, ensuring alignment and understanding of new requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of training protocols by collecting and analyzing feedback from participants and sharing insights with the Standards and Training Coordinator.
- Track and document best practices observed during training sessions to enhance the quality of future training programs and share insights with other team members.
Reporting and Data Management
- Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on training activities, QA findings, and progress against training targets, contributing data and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Maintain up-to-date records of training participation, compliance rates, and certification statuses, using internal databases and ensuring data accuracy. (Keep this for STC, QM)
- Analyze data on training effectiveness and compile recommendations for improvements, focusing on key areas like participant engagement, material relevance, and skills application.
- Coordinate with the Information Management team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues with the training database, ensuring smooth data entry, retrieval, and reporting processes. (Keep this for STC, QM)
- Participate in regular team meetings, providing updates on training progress, QA outcomes, and any issues or delays impacting training schedules.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Basic Deminer Course
- IED Searcher
- Team Leader
- EOD Level 3
- MOI (Method of Instrcution)
- Minimum five years experience in mine action or similar within IED and legacy clearance tasks including urban and rural areas of contamination.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education, Training, or a related field; additional certification in quality management or training standards is an asset.
- Minimum of two years in training support, quality assurance, or a similar role within a structured, standards-based environment in a Mine Action company or NGO
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with database management and report generation.
- Basic knowledge of Quality Assurance frameworks and operational standards.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Ability to ensure accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance to diverse team members.
- Able to independently address minor issues within established frameworks and escalate more complex issues appropriately.
- Qualified candidates from duty of location will be given preference.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks, organizing training materials, and meeting deadlines.
- Works well independently and takes responsibility for specified tasks with minimal supervision.
Languages
- Proficient in spoken and written Kurdish is required, and English language skills is considered as a plus.
